Three Lovely Things!

I've always been partial to images of women, especially when it is a group of three. I think it always reminds me of my Mother and her two older sisters. I have a file for just these "Three Muses" kind of images, and somewhere I found this one which is a kind of a 1950's fashion-y version of John Singer Sargent's Wyndham Sisters. I think they are just divine, don't you?

Here are three more lovely things I found to share. Hope you like them, too!

From Vintage Flowers is this exquisite bridal hankie embroidered with the most intricate flowers and cut work. Sewn on the sheerest cotton batiste, this turn of the century treasure would also be wonderful in a beautiful frame.

This stunning French rose gold cross is highlighted by the the prettiest seed pearl embellishments. It's from about 1880, and would still look wonderful today on a delicate chain or a length of satin ribbon. From Paisley Rae.

My Mom and her sisters were raised in a small farm town in Kansas where smiling sunflowers dot the fields and gardens; no wonder it is the state flower. They also decorate this Victorian quadruple plated soup tureen, along with other floral motifs. What a lovely way to serve your guests at dinner or just use for a magnificent flower arrangement. Either way, it is a showstopper from Magpie Antiques.

Rose Red!

Who doesn't love the intensity of the deepest rose red...the velvety texture of the scarlet petals against the creamiest of complexions...the mystery of the darkest of hair against the boldness of the bloom itself...

Fluffy Pink Bunnies offers this amazing vintage 1950's velvet party dress with stunning twisted satin rosette details. I love the color combination on this piece...it's sexy but still a little girlie. It would be a perfect little cocktail dress for a work function, attending a wedding, or just something special for a dinner with your Valentine sweetie!

These fabulous pumps will dress up any outfit with their exploding blossoms embellishing their black mesh backgrounds. Now these are some sexy shoes, ladies! From Needs Good Home.

So ladylike is this charming French evening bag made of black satin and decorated with the loveliest red rose bud...it even has a little lipstick and compact pocket inside! Available through The Dusty Dog.

These handmade earrings from the 1950's-60's are really unique and special pieces. Made from shells that have been dyed red, each one has a sparkling rhinestone center to light up your face with just the right bit of glitz! Although the seller is The Pattern Shop, don't let the name fool you...she has lots of other wonderful things to offer that are just delightful!

Beautiful Brides!

After many years in the wedding and special occasion business, I still can't resist really beautiful bridal items that I run across. This photo of actress Ida Lupino from 1936 is just so charming, I had to share it with you. Don't you love how her pretty little ruffle frames her face like an angelic halo...and it cascades completely down the length of the veil encircling the delicate embroidery at the bottom!

( Photo via My Vintage Vogue)

Now take a look at this lovely antique Brussels lace bridal veil from Antique Lace Heirlooms in England. This is truly a piece to hand down from generation to generation with its hand worked flowers, scrolls and leaves. She has a small but beautiful etsy store with magnificent items, including the most charming flapper rhinestone headband for the unique and stylish bride.

Even a touch of glitz on a simple black dress, like this 14K brooch, marks a special evening. I love how the bubbles are actually champagne and white diamonds! From Phoebe Delia's Mercantile.

We can't forget the fabulous men in our lives, now can we? He deserves a wonderful vintage tuxedo for this special evening, and this classic tux from the 1940's is forever divine! It's from Time Bomb Vintage.

You could chill the bubbly you will be serving in this lovely silver plate champagne cooler. Made by the Boardman Silver Company from Meridan, CT, this classic piece is available from Gilded Age Affaires.

Your guests will know they are special when you serve them in these over-the-top champagne saucers! The frosted stems feature Bacchus holding up up the saucer tops with grape and leaf details! There are eight of these gems for you to entertain with, and they are from Luna's Loot on etsy.

You'll need something to serve it all on, so why not this beautiful Sheffield silver plate gallery tray? Winter Wonderland!

The lovely gift left by Mother Nature on Christmas Day of a snowy blanket of white is still with us today! The warm sun is doing it's best to melt what is left on our lawns, and the job should be complete in just a few hours. Although many other parts of the country are in the thick of it all right now, we seem to be finished with what ever we were going to get in this round, and if we are lucky, it will be all we get this season. Probably wishful thinking, even though we don't usually get more than one or two snowfalls a year in our part of the South anyway!

There is something so romantic about a light snowfall like the one we received...just makes me want to curl up in front of the fireplace and enjoy a quiet evening with my sweetie...and a few other cozy things I found today! So put on your favorite fuzzy socks, sit back and enjoy!

Isn't this vintage handmade bolero the perfect little thing to throw over your shoulders? I love the idea of something other than a scarf or bulky sweater over a bare top for a dinner for two. We love to do piping hot clam chowder served in bread bowls with a salad and a bottle of wine for a winter supper, and this is the perfect sexy sweater to wear for just such an occasion, don't you think? From The Bag Basement. This seller has a huge etsy store with terrific prices on a whole lot of fun accessories!

How about finishing up the dinner with homemade hot chocolate served in this Bavarian set decorated with silver roses on a translucent white background? This set is from the 1920's or 30's, and is just as lovely today. Although it's a service for 12 originally from a New York estate, there's no reason not to use it to make even a weeknight at home special. From Magpie Treasure.

This wonderful heirloom quality bedspread is so pretty with its hobnail chenille pattern...it's double size is great for wrapping up on the sofa together on long, cold winter nights. It's from Great2bme on etsy.

Even this little snow owl wants to come in from the cold! Made of porcelain, this cute little guy is perched on a branch and would be a wonderful addition to your home this winter. I love his sweet expression...he's from Red Truck Designs.

I always love a winter scene, and this icy landscape was captured by artist Doris Rohr, a California Plein Air artist who was born in 1896. This canvas on board piece has such pretty colors...you can find out more from Spruced Roost.

A girl has to always be prepared for the electricity going out, and this canister style oil or kerosene lamp it so adorable with it's wintry snow scene front! It's an estate piece from the early 1900's and available through Mayberry General Store. Who wouldn't look ravishing in that light?!

Although these vintage snow shoes are the real thing, I think they would be so great as an art piece on the wall in a man's office or family game room. Even leaning against a fireplace would be charming! You can learn all about them through Vintage A Mania.

Finally, I couldn't resist including these really incredible handmade soft sculpture dolls. Made by artist Linda Watts in the 1980's, this "cool" couple still has the original hanging tags explaining all about Ice Kingdom "Ice People". With their glamorous costumes, you don't have to be a little girl to appreciate these dolls. They are available through Uncommon Eye, a seller that specializes in vintage and mid-century modern collectibles and other unique items. You'll have lots of fun browsing this shop!

Holiday Overload!

Whew! Is anyone else feeling the effects of the busy holiday season?

Yesterday was a whirlwind of dinner with family, exchanging gifts, a walk in the snow with my sweetheart and coming home to a wonderful decadent dessert and libation by the fire, followed by a movie on the sofa in our new pajamas! In other words, perfection! I so hope you had a jolly time with those you love!

Isn't this necklace just stunning? It's actually a repurposed blossom on three strands of lovely glass pearls. From Sora Designs.

From Doriz Gem is this great Versace tote...I love a classic tote that never seems to go out of style!

Love, love, love this coat done in luxurious black velvet! Swing styles are so great, too, as they don't squish any pretty ruffles or bows or other lovely embellishments on your outfit underneath. This one is from Swing Kats Vintage.

Pretty, lady like gloves in lots of pretty colors are great to add to your accessory collection! They are the perfect thing to add just the right element of surprise! Show off your individual style with this lovelies from Meres MarketPlace.

Dior and Pearls!

I still love this splendid creation from John Galliano for Dior! It's from his couture collection a couple of seasons ago, but just like pearls, some things never go out of fashion!

(From Vintage Treasures 09)

A gown like Mr. Galliano's deserves the loveliest of accessories, no? How about something as decadent as the pearls here to frame your face! It's from the late 1940's or early 1950's and was probably made for Dior by Henry Shreiner. It's a massive piece with tiers of silvery-white glass baroque pearls and Austrian marquis and chaton crystals. I love the little baubles sparkling the tip of the extension chain. And don't worry about what to wear on your lovely ears, as it comes with the perfect matching chandelier earrings!

Vintage Compacts!

I love this image of a glamour girl checking her perfectly applied make up in this fun compact! I've never been one to do the make up check in public, but might not be able to resist in showing off any one of the lovely pieces I've shown below!
(Photo via My Vintage Vogue)

This stunning piece would be a wonderful addition to a collection! The center powder and mirror compartment features a dramatic rhinestone medallion on the front, surrounded by a lipstick holder on one side and a perfume bottle on the other! Wow!
Dolphin Lady

I love the tassel made of sparkling crystal on this piece from 1929. The ribbed gold tone compact features a lovely beveled mirror on the inside.
From Power Of One Designs

Estee Lauder has had some beautiful collections over the years and this one is certainly just that!
It's appropriately called "Butterfly" and has gorgeous colors in the enameling and is embellished with amethyst, topaz and clear crystals! What a stocking stuffer idea!
From Volaurie.

A classic Fragonard image of lovers is depicted on the top of this wonderful compact from Paris and is stamped "Limoges"...so feminine!
Annies Oddities

I've always found ostrich to be such an interesting material and this cool compact would be so great, especially this season with textured leathers and fur so popular. This would be super for an edgier fashionista that isn't quite as girly-girl.
